When a St. Augustine lawn starts browning out in patches during the summer and watering doesn’t fix it, chinch bugs are a common reason. They show up first along hot edges like driveways and sidewalks. Grubworms work underground, eating the roots, so the grass pulls up like a loose rug.
What we do
The tech checks the lawn to figure out what’s actually causing the damage, because drought stress and fungus can look a lot like bug damage. If it’s chinch bugs or grubs, we treat the affected areas and the lawn around them, and let you know what to expect as it recovers.
Timing matters
Chinch bugs do the most damage in the hottest part of summer. Grubs are easiest to treat while they’re young and close to the surface, before they grow. If you’ve had trouble before, it’s worth getting on the schedule early.
