If you live near a greenbelt, a creek, or any of the limestone ledges that run through Williamson and Travis County, you already know scorpions are part of life here. The striped bark scorpion is the one we see most. It climbs walls, gets into attics, and shows up in bathtubs and shoes, which is usually when people call us.
What we actually do
Scorpions are tough to kill with a quick spray, so we focus on where they live and how they get in. On a typical visit the tech treats the foundation, door and window frames, eaves, and the cracks and voids around the outside of the house. We also look at the yard for the things that hold them: rock borders, firewood, landscape timbers, and heavy ground cover against the slab.
Inside, we treat the spots scorpions travel, like garages, baseboards, plumbing openings and the attic access, and we’ll point out gaps under doors or around pipes that are worth sealing.
How often
For most homes with a scorpion problem, quarterly service keeps them under control. If you’re seeing a lot of activity, we can start with an initial treatment and come back sooner. Covered pests, scorpions included, are guaranteed for 90 days. If they come back between visits, we come back at no charge.
Things you can do between visits
Pull mulch and rock a few inches back from the foundation, keep firewood off the ground and away from the house, and put weather stripping on exterior doors. Shaking out shoes and towels in the garage doesn’t hurt either.
